Volunteer Training

Volunteer Training

Each CASA volunteer must complete a comprehensive training program. We offer several training sessions throughout the year to accommodate our volunteers.

Most training occurs in our Worcester offices at 100 Grove Street. However, we occasionally offer training sessions at alternate sites near the juvenile courts we service in Leominster, Fitchburg, Milford, and Dudley.

Training is conducted by The CASA Project staff and covers the following topics:
  • the Roles and Responsibilities of CASA
  • the Court System
  • the Department of Children and Families
  • case building
  • interviewing
  • report writing
  • understanding the children we serve
In addition, veteran volunteers participate in a CASA panel, answering questions and describing actual case experiences.

Each volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocate/Guardian ad litem (CASA/GAL) is assigned a Case Supervisor who provides assistance and guidance throughout the life of the case.

All administrative assistance is provided by the CASA office.

2018 CASA Volunteer Training

Our next training is in April!

We will be offering morning and afternoon sessions to suit your schedule.  Dates are as follows:

April 3
April 4
April 5
April 9
April 10
April 12 -  3:00 p.m. optional swearing in ceremony at courthouse

New volunteers must attend one session each day on the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 9th, and 10th.  So there are 5 days of training to complete.  You may attend EITHER the morning sessions (9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) or the afternoon sessions (4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.).  You can also mix and match your attendance at these as necessary to suit your schedule.

If you would like to attend the April training sessions, or if you have questions, please contact Doug Stark at 508-757-9877 ext. 106, or e-mail at: dstark@thecasaproject.org.

 We’d love to have you!
